Glen Park

Alexander Teacher, interested in the future of our healthcare system, hopefully more reliant on prevention and less reliant on drugs.

Dave, Glen & KeithKeith Fielder

Age 63. Now retired from the Civil Service (where I worked with assessing and helping disabled people to find jobs). Currently (amongst other things) a volunteer at Dartington Archives at High Cross House.  Interested most of my life in alternatives, meditation, spirituality.  Became interested in the Gaia concept many years ago and that humanity’s role should be to work in harmony with Nature in a sustainable way – trying to find ways to do that.

Dr David Harwood

Director of the Institute for Science Education, University of Plymouth; teaching on Environmental Science and Organic Chemistry courses: Lay Reader, Buckfastleigh and Dean Prior churches.

Maggi Fielder

MaggiCo-ordinator for the Copland Neighbours Group, age 58. Career: former Production Assistant for BBC Continuing Education programmes (Radio 4); BBC  publications; also worked with ‘consciousness changing’ charities. Currently edit a magazine for The Gatekeeper Trust and am their local facilitator for the Totnes/South Hams area. Gatekeeper is an educational charity whose aims are to encourage people to ‘rediscover our connection with our environment, and to realise how it affects us, and we it’, through pilgrimaging to holy places and special places in the landscape – we can act like ‘acupunture needles’ on the ‘meridians’ of the Earth.

I also run a B&B – using produce from our organic veggie garden (if the slugs haven’t got there first!) and operating in as environmentally friendly way as we can both with products we use: buying locally and organic…and helping the local wildlife. Read more about why Maggi got involved in Transition Together here.

Mike Waterson

Consultant Biochemist at Torbay hospital.  Mike's interested in discussing the bigger picture about the global warming crisis.

Mike, Liz, June & TommyLiz Waterson

I'm a Reader with the Totnes Team Ministry (Diocese of Exeter),   teacher and B&B host (like my neighbour - Maggi).  I'm interested in building good community relationships and finding out
about how to be more caring for my environment at the same time! (And I also got involved in Transition Teams because it was  my neighbour Maggie who started the group and I wanted to support her!).

June Harwood

Ex-Educational Development lecturer Plymouth University; currently under-taking a degree in French at Exeter University. David and I were motivated to join as it seemed a means of sharing sustainability practice and providing a pilot study of a community working together.

Tommy, Nancy, Carole & TonyTommy and Nancy Palm

Age: both reached the '3rd Age'.Retired 2 years ago.Tommy:  System (Computer) Software Designer. Nancy:  Piano teacher (in Schools and Privately). Both always been interested in care for our environment.  Nancy has a number of years support for disadvantaged -both human, animal and vegetable!  Excited to find Totnes a leading light when we decided to move here. Attended various TTT meetings over past 18 months.  Need to influence decision-makers to get real impact.

Carole and Tony Whitty

Carole and Tony Whitty have lived in Totnes for 11 years. Carole now works for the National Association of Headteachers, having been the Headteacher of two secondary schools. Tony has worked in Special Education and the voluntary sector for a number of years and is currently leader of Totnes Town Council. Throughout their careers they have both worked in various ways to encourage young people to become active in their local communities .

"This project is a fantastic opportunity to work with neighbours in new ways and to focus on making small individual changes to the way we use precious resources. Our combined efforts we hope will make these small changes achieve a big impact"

Barbara, Malcolm, Dave & GlenBarbara Hales

I work as a counsellor; my website can give you further info.  www.barbarahalescounselling.co.uk  My interest in TTT arises from awareness of the interconnection and interdependence of life in the natural world.  I am also interested in building community amongst near neighbours, spreading outwards gradually world wide, so the actions of individuals become significant when many join together.
